The company is sending emails asking for participants

Motorola already confirmed it would deploy Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform to several high-end devices, including the Motorola XOOM tablet.

Although the handset maker did not make any references on the exact release date of the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade, it appears that the company is now preparing a certain project for Motorola XOOM owners that might be Android 4.0.

According to the folks over at DroidLife, there’s a high chance that this project could be the update to Ice Cream Sandwich. Motorola has started to invite owners of the “Google Experience Device” version of the Wi-Fi only Motorola XOOM via email.

The invitation also contains information about the new forums community location and instructions on how to register. It is also worth mentioning that only those who are members of Motorola Owners Forums can participate in this project.

In this regard, Motorola informs WiFi-only Motorola XOOM owners that they need to re-register at the new site in order to be considered a member.

There are no details on when exactly the project kicks off, but it’s likely to start when the company manages to gather enough participants, which won’t take too long.

Read below an excerpt of the email sent by Motorola to all owners of the “Google Experience Device” version of the Wi-Fi Motorola XOOM:

Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We are preparing a project for owners of the “Google Experience Device” version of the WiFi-only Motorola Xoom. (This is the U.S. version only.) If you own this particular model, we would like to invite you to participate.

Please note that you must be a member in good standing of the Motorola Owners’ Forums to take part. We have recently moved our forums communities to a new site, and YOU MUST RE-REGISTER to be considered a member. Please visit our new site and complete your registration update if you have not done so already. Be sure to fill out the MFN opt-in information on the new site.

Thanks — please understand that project start times are always fluid. We ask for your patience if you register but don’t hear from us right away.”
