Mobile phone maker Motorola is currently getting ready for the release of the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system to all owners of Moto X devices in the United States, and has already kicked off a soak test for Sprint’s version of the device, it seems.

Previously, the handset vendor pushed the platform upgrade to Moto X devices on the networks of wireless carriers such as Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T, with Sprint being the latest major network in the US to receive it. Soon, the update should be delivered to US Cellular customers too.

No specific details on the OS refresh have been provided as of now, but a recent tweet coming from droid-life claims that the rollout has already started.

The update will provide users with a nice range of enhancements on their smartphones, including a series of security fixes and other improvements.

Moreover, it will offer a better camera experience to Moto X owners, including the ability to pause video recordings, courtesy of a pause/resume button on the camera viewfinder. Photos taken with the front camera should also be better following the update.

There’s no telling how long it will take for the Android 4.4.4 KitKat software release to arrive on all Moto X devices on Sprint’s network, though chances are that the wireless carrier will make an official announcement on the matter in the not-too-distant future, so keep an eye on this space to learn additional info.
