Motorola's Enterprise Mobility Solutions has announced the launch of a powerful, new, wireless management tool, created to help the IT industry obtain a better view of its networks and also reduce operational costs on running its wireless networks, the Motorola AirDefense Infrastructure Management solution. Motorola's new solution provides centralized management through a single console, drastically simplifying network management and also reducing total costs.

Air Defense provides a user-friendly WLAN Infrastructure Management module capable of supporting devices from Motorola, as well as other vendors, which enables wireless network administrators to use just one interface for multiple deployments. The Centralized Management Console has a device/vendor diagnostic user interface for a more consistent configuration, which also reduces the model-specific expertise needed by administrators to install, configure and manage different types of devices.

“Enterprise mobility is considered a business necessity today, but most organizations still continue to be concerned about the operational costs associated with maintaining the increasing number and complexity of applications, devices and services available over today’s wireless LANs,” Sujai Hajela, vice president and general manager for Wireless Network Solutions, Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions, said. “The vendor-agnostic infrastructure management solution marks the introduction of the Motorola AirDefense Services Platform, the industry’s first service oriented WLAN platform designed to provide customers with best-in-class infrastructure management, network assurance and wireless security services.”

Air Defense is capable of supporting a large number of back-end management protocols and can present statistics on configuration and faults to the network administrators. Through the use of a single centralized management console instead of a separate management of multiple systems, IT departments can easily update device configurations, capture faults, monitor the device status or gather statistics needed for different reports.

The Air Defense Infrastructure Management solution provided by Motorola offers management at the application, network and device level, enabling IT staff to have unmatched control and visibility into their whole wireless mobility ecosystem. Supporting both legacy standards as well as new devices, this management tool gives the customers the opportunity to migrate to 802.11n technologies and also to introduce mobility solutions in their companies.
