Today, mobile phone maker Motorola announced the launch of a new device on the European market, namely the MILESTONE XT720, and Android-based handset that sports a slim body and an 8-megapixel photo snapper with Xenon Flash. The new handset seems to be none other than the previously rumored upgraded MOTOROI (initially launched in Korea) that Motorola planned for European consumers.

“MILESTONE XT720 is one of the most powerful phones in Motorola’s current smartphone range. Slim, sophisticated and technically savvy, MILESTONE XT720 is a high performance device designed for those who are actively engaged in both their work and social lives. With MILESTONE XT720, Motorola has taken yet another step towards eliminating the barriers for consumers to creating and consuming media on the go,” Ralf Gerbershagen, vice president and general manager for Motorola’s Mobile Devices business in Western Europe, commented on the launch.

The specifications list of the new mobile phone shows a sleek (10.9mm) handset that runs under Google's Android 2.1 operating system, while featuring a high definition (HD) video experience, along with great media and mobile Internet capabilities. The handset's camera sports 10x digital zoom capabilities, as well as great video recording features, enabling users to easily snap photos, record videos, and share them with their friends.

Some of the main features of the MILESTONE XT720 include: • Smart image capture: includes easy panorama, face detection, multi-shot (six shots in a row), face filter, red eye reduction, camera shake prevention and more, to improve the image quality and variety • High definition multimedia interface (HDMI): HDMI cable (in box) allows HD video captured on the MILESTONE XT720 to be viewed directly on an HDTV • Memory card support: 8GB microSD card included inbox; expandable up to 32GB. The capabilities the new handset comes to the market with expand further more. A 3.7-inch touchscreen display that boasts a WVGA (480 x 854 pixel resolution) can prove great for viewing web pages, videos and more, while the Android 2.1 OS is combined with Motorola’s own touch user interface for an enhanced experience.

Other features of the new phone include integration with Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube, along with Motorola’s MOTONAV turn by turn navigation solution. Moreover, it supports multiple accounts and document editing capabilities for multi-tasking on the go, not to mention access to the Android Market for purchasing and downloading applications. No specific details on the handset's availability and pricing have been unveiled so far.
