Motorola, Inc. recently announced the launch of a new Bluetooth headset, the H17txt with MotoSpeak, designed to optimize the text-to-speech technology and experience. According to the company, the new headset can be paired with the MotoSpeak application to read text messages (SMS) in real time. In addition, the device enables users to customize an automated response so as to have text-to-speech available when the headset is powered on.

“Motorola continues to promote responsible driving, by helping users keep their hands on the wheels and eyes on the road, no matter what comes in on their mobile phone,” said Wayne White, corporate vice president, Companion Products, Motorola Mobile Devices. “H17txt with MotoSpeak reflects an enhancement in Bluetooth connectivity where consumers are able to stay connected in a more responsible way.”

The company also notes that the new text-to-speech software solution is available for download from multiple application stores, such as the Android Market. When paired with H17txt with MotoSpeak, the application will enable users to automatically hear their text messages. Moreover, the solution can translate 150 text acronyms, including lol, btw or l8r, so that one will not miss the meaning of a message.

Other features of the application include: - Easy on: Text messages will automatically be played over your H17txt with MotoSpeak every time your headset is activated. - Incoming text message sender ID: Always be in the know about who in your phonebook is trying to text you without having to take your hands off the wheel with sender ID announcements. - Auto-response message: Determine if you want to send an automated text message to callers informing them that you are driving and will call back when available or pick a more personalized message to send.

The Motorola H17txt with MotoSpeak Bluetooth headset is expected to become available for purchase in the US via Verizon Wireless Communications stores and online. The device can be used with any Bluetooth-compatible phone, including DROID by Motorola, the company added. More details on the new headset are available on Motorola's website here.
