The company prefers to focus completely on Android OS

Motorola has been focusing on Android since Google's operating system was launched on the market. Many have hoped that the US-based company might start exploring other OSes as well, especially after the latest leak that spotted Motorola Windows Phone handset in a benchmark's database.

Well, it looks like Motorola has not plan of switching sides, or at least try its hand at a Windows Phone handset. The company's global sales leader, Colin Giles said in an interview for The Telegraph that Motorola will continue to focus on Android solely, WMPU reports.

“There are no plans to start launching operating systems other than Android. One of the key differentiators for us is the pure Android experience, and we’re deeply proud of that, because we believe it brings a much better software experience to consumers, and faster upgrades,” says Giles in the interview.

Under Lenovo's ownership anything is possible for Motorola

That's quite a definitive answer coming from a company that has changed ownership twice in the last few years. The current owner, Lenovo has already confirmed it has partnered with Microsoft to bring one or more Windows Phone handsets on the market this year.

Actually, the first one should be released in June/July, but other than that we don't know other details on Lenovo's upcoming handset just that it will certain be powered by Windows Phone 8.1 rather than Windows 10.

Perhaps Lenovo wishes to allow Motorola to do what it does best, Android smartphones that offer the stock experience. Experimenting with Windows Phone might not offer the desired results and the Chinese company can't risk losing too much money after acquiring Motorola less than a year ago.

Still, we sincerely believe that under Lenovo's ownership anything is possible, even a Motorola branded Windows Phone handset. Until then though, let's see what Lenovo has in store for Windows Phone fans.
