Motorola isn't prepping any new tablet models

Motorola was the manufacturer behind the Nexus 6 smartphone last year, but at some point, the company also made tablets.

Naturally, some of us might have forgotten this aspect, given the fact that Motorola last rolled out a slate back in 2011 (the Xyboard 8.2 and Xyboard 10.1).

The models weren't a big success, so the outcome probably prompted the company to abandon the tablet space and continue focusing on producing amazing smartphones such as the Moto X.

However, it appears some Motorola fans are nostalgic about the company’s tablets and have taken to Twitter to ask about possible plans the device maker might have for this space.

Motorola’s CEO himself, Rick Osterloh, answered the query explaining that the company he’s presiding over doesn't have any plans in this regard. He also took the opportunity to stir customers’ attention in the direction of the parent company, Lenovo, which has some worthy slates on the market, especially the Yoga bunch.

Puzzlingly enough, last year we heard that Motorola was busy testing various tablet models with 7-inch, 11-inch and 12.5-inch displays scheduled for release during summer 2015.

But it appears the company has reconsidered its position, so don’t expect any Motorola tabs to arrive into the wild any time soon.
