In addition to announcing Google's proposed acquisition of Motorola Mobility, the mobile phone maker also announced on Monday the release of a new Android-powered device, the DEFY+.

The same as its predecessor, the new handset is a rugged phone, and comes with a water resistant, scratch resistant and dust proof design (IP67).

At the same time, the new smartphone is capable of offering great performance capabilities courtesy of its fast 1GHz application processor, complemented by the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

With the new mobile phone, users should enjoy great battery life with their devices, and a wide range of features that will make their mobile experience a great one.

“Motorola DEFY+ is faster than ever, keeping up with your on-the-go lifestyles so you can effortlessly browse the Web, stay updated with social networking sites on your homes screens and stream and download rich media content more quickly than before,” Motorola notes.

Motorola DEFY+ offers an Adobe Flash 10-enabled browser for a rich web experience that allows users to watch their favorite movies or view videos on the Web.”

The specifications list of the new device also includes a 3.7-inch high-resolution touch-screen display with Corning Gorilla Glass, as well as a five-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with video recording, auto focus, flash and digital zoom.

The smartphone also comes with 2GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space (a 2GB card included in the package).

Users will also benefit from a 1700mAH battery inside DEFY+, capable of providing them with up to 7.1 hours of talk time, or up to 16 days of standby time. WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS receiver were also included in the package.

“Powered by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), Motorola DEFY+ is smarter than ever. This new version of Android boasts a better battery life, a more intuitive user interface and improvements on the features you use most – including enhanced calendar and email features and home screen options,” Motorola explains.

“Users can make Motorola DEFY+ their own by organizing and personalizing their Application trays for easy and quick access to their most used tools, games and content.”

The new Motorola DEFY+ is expected to arrive on the market in Asia, Europe and Latin America and should hit shelves in early fall, Motorola concluded.
