Via O2 and Vodafone

Mobile phone maker Motorola recently announced the launch of a new Android-based device, the Motorola FlipOut. The handset is now said to come to the market in Germany in July, via two wireless carriers in the country, namely O2 and Vodafone. The handset should land on shelves in Germany with a price tag of €349 attached to it, the handset vendor states.

The new Motorola FlipOut smartphone comes to the market with a square form factor. It includes a 2.8-inch touchscreen display (of 320 x 240 pixel resolution) that rotates up to unveil a five-line QWERTY keyboard, a 3-megapixel photo snapper with digital zoom and fixed-focus, and 512MB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space (a 2GB MicroSD card included in the package).

The specifications list of the device also includes support for 3G networks, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Wi-Fi connectivity options, 3.5mm headset jack, USB 2.0, eCompass/aGPS, FM Radio, media player with support for AAC, AAC+, AAC+ Enhanced, AMR NB, MP3, WMA v9, H.264, MPEG4, WMV v9 file types, as well as MMS, SMS, Email (Corporate Sync, POP3, IMAP, Push Email), Instant Messaging capabilities, not to mention the Android HTML WebKit with Adobe Flash Enabled.

The new mobile phone measures 67 x 67 x 17 mm and weighs in at 120g. It packs a 1170 mAh battery capable of delivering up to 275 minutes of talk time or up to 377 hours of standby time on WCDMA, or up to 357 minutes of talk time or up to 365 hours of standby time on GSM. On top of that Android 2.1 OS that powers the phone, Motorola put its MOTOBLUR software solution, for an enhanced user experience.

“MOTOBLUR, the only service that syncs all your friends, emails, messages, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter feeds and happenings with continuous updates and back-ups, just got better. The enhanced version of MOTOBLUR allows you to take control of your Happenings and Messages widgets with the option to filter out updates and messages you don’t want, making it easier to follow who and what really matters. With seven home screens and the option to move and resize pre-loaded widgets, you can customize FLIPOUT however you’d like,” the company notes.
