Motorola Mobility has just announced the launch of the Motorola FIRE entry-level Android smartphone in the UK.

Although the company has yet to announce the phone's suggested retail price and its availability date, it appears that retailer Clove already accepts pre-orders for Motorola FIRE.

Those who cannot wait to get their hands on this low-end smartphone can purchase it via Clove for £216.00 outright.

However, the Motorola FIRE might be picked by various carriers in the country in the next few days, which will probably lower its price considerably.

As we already reported the budget smartphone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread and features an intriguing UI called Moto Switch.

The Moto Switch user interface looks very much like the BLUR UI, which confirms Motorola’s plans to replace its proprietary UI name.

Furthermore, Motorola FIRE is equipped with a low-performance 600 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227-1 processor, complemented by an Adreno 200 GPU.

Motorola FIRE has a sleek, candybar design and comes with 2.8-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen display with 262k colors support and 240 x 320 pixels resolution.

We are excited about extending our growing smartphone range in UK, and Motorola FIRE opens up new possibilities in the smartphone market. The device’s stylish design and its exciting and versatile social media applications will wow younger, tech-loving users in particular,” said Victoria McManus, UK marketing director, Motorola Mobility EMEA.

In addition, the FIRE sports a mediocre 3-megapixel camera with LED flash and video recording capabilities (480p@24fps).

Given the fact that it has been tagged as a budget device, the FIRE only packs 256 MB of RAM, 512 MB of ROM, but also includes a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The phone's 1420mAh battery should provide up to 8 hours of talk time or up to 30 days of standby in 3G mode.
