Motorola Mobility has just announced that its QWERTY Android smartphone Motorola FIRE will be available for purchase in Germany beginning September for a suggested retail price of €189 without prepaid contract, including tax

Unlike Motorola FIRE XT full-touch smartphone, the FIRE comes with a portrait QWERTY keyboard to offer users a smooth texting experience.

Motorola FIRE is a budget smartphone powered by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and equipped with a low-performance 600 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227-1 processor, complemented by an Adreno 200 GPU.

In addition, the bar handset comes with 2.8-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen display with 262k colors support and 240 x 320 pixels resolution.

When it comes to design, the FIRE has a sleek, modern look and a sophisticated finish.

The handset comes pre-loaded with the Moto Switch user interface, which allows users to switch to between different modes, such as “friends” or “work.”

We are excited about extending our growing smartphone range in Germany, and Motorola FIRE opens up new possibilities in the smartphone market. The device’s stylish design and its exciting and versatile social media applications will wow younger, tech-loving users in particular,” said Claudia Läpke, marketing director at Motorola Mobility Germany GmbH.

The phone sports a mediocre 3-megapixel camera with LED flash and video recording capabilities (480p@24fps).

Obviously, user will have access to thousands of apps via Android Market, but the FIRE also comes bundled with Google's full suite, including Google Maps with Navigation, Google Talk, Google Search, Gmail and YouTube.

The FIRE packs 256 MB of RAM, 512 MB of ROM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The smartphone is delivered with best-in-class battery life, allowing users to talk, browse the Web, text, play games and videos all day long.

According to the manufacturer, the phone's 1420mAh battery should provide up to 8 hours of talk time or up to 30 days of standby in 3G mode.
