Motorola EM30 is one of the new phones that Moto has been hiding for some time, but it's now fully unveiled thanks to the FCC, which approved the handset use in the US.

The device comes in a candybar form factor, having a design similar to ROKR E8, the music-centered phone released by Motorola not long ago. The new handset has the same flat, morphing keypad, but instead of a scroll wheel it offers a regular directional pad. There are at least two color versions of EM30, as the FCC shows us a black with red margins one, as well as a black with silver margins one. We're not sure which one looks better, but they both look pretty nice and that's all that matters in the end. Moreover, the EM30 seems to be pretty slim, so it's probably around 10 millimeters in thickness, just like the ROKR E8.

Although the full list of specs included in ROKR EM30 is not known, we do have most of the details about the new handset. The phone features GSM connectivity with GPRS and EDGE (no 3G), A-GPS navigation, 2GB of built-in memory, MOntavista Linux 6.2.1 OS, Bluetooth, Music player, FM radio, an audio jack (3.5 mm or 2.5 mm), full HTML browser, email capabilities, Instant Messaging,

a 2 Megapixel camera with video, microUSB, microSD card support, voice-activated dialing, handsfree, embedded games, airplane mode, Exchange ActiveSync, file manager, office tools (organizer, calendar, etc.) and so on.

The display of EM30 seems to have the same size as the one of E8 (2 inches), hence we guess it comes with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution and 262K colors.

There are no details yet about the availability of Motorola ROKR EM30 or about its retail price. Anyway, it's good to see Moto coming with new handsets, even though the EM30 is not super-advanced in features and it doesn't have an all-new look.
