Unveiled one month ago, Motorola Defy+ rugged Android smartphone has just made its debut in the UK.

The handset is now available for purchase for £239.95 (about $374 or 276 EUR) from The Smartphone Centre online retailer.

Furthermore, Clove UK is offering Motorola Defy+ as well, but it's a bit more expansive at £246 (about $384 or 283 EUR).

The successor of the popular Motorola Defy comes with a newer Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a faster processor.

The phone targets Android fans who take their handset everywhere they go, either they are going to the beach or at an all-night party.

In this regard, the phone has been IP67 certified, so it's water resistant, scratch resistant and features a dust proof design.

The phone measures 107 x 59mm and is only 13.4 mm thick. Moreover, the device is pretty light for a rugged phone at only 118 g (battery included).

It comes with a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display with 16 million colors support, 480 x 854 pixels resolution, and is protected by Gorilla Glass.

As we already mentioned, Defy+ runs Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread with MOTOBLUR user interface with Live Widgets on top.

Unlike the original Defy that embeds an 800 MHz CPU, the new Motorola Defy+ is equipped with an improved 1 GHz TI OMAP 3620 processor.

All connectivity options are covered, including HSDPA (7.2 Mbps) and HSUPA (2 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR support, as well as GPS with A-GPS.

The handset packs 2 GB of internal, 512 MB of RAM, 1 GB of ROM, and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included).

According to the manufacturer, Motorola Defy+ 1700 mAh Li-Polymer battery should provide up to 384 hours of standby time or 7 hours of talk time.
