One of the Android-based mobile phones that would arrive on shelves at Verizon Wireless in the not too far future would be the Motorola DROID X2, which should be released before the month of May is over, it seems.

The handset has been spotted at large quite a few times before, and more and more info on it started to emerge on it lately, suggesting that a launch is imminent.

Motorola DROID X2 has just made an appearance on Motorola's website, and was spotted at Verizon too a few days ago, which suggests that it should be released on the market in the near future.

Moreover, some info on the price tag it might feature when available surfaced as well, suggesting that Verizon would have it available at $199.99 upon the signing of a contract agreement.

Those who would like to purchase the new smartphone without committing to a contract agreement would have to get $600 out of their pockets.

This would make the Motorola DROID X2 more expensive that many other smartphones in Verizon's lineup, such as the Samsung Droid Charge, which goes for $569.99 at full retail price.

Of course, the new mobile phone from Motorola would sports a dual-core application processor inside, which would make it one of the most powerful devices at Big Red, that's for sure.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Motorola DROID X2 is expected to arrive on shelves with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a qHD resolution, as well as with a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 application processor for enhanced performance capabilities.

Moreover, the Motorola DROID X2 would pack an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back. It would sport 512MB of RAM, and 8GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space.

Rumor has it that Motorola might plan on bringing the new device to the market with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform on board, although it is currently running under Android 2.2 Froyo.
