Starting today, Verizon customers can purchase two new Android-based devices on the network of their wireless carrier, namely the Motorola DROID Ultra and DROID MAXX.

Both of these handsets were officially unveiled last month, and should provide users with a host of new features and performance capabilities when compared to the previous Motorola devices in the popular DROID lineup.

The new DROID Ultra by Motorola can be seen listed on this page on Verizon’s website with a price tag of $199.99 (€150) attached to it with the signing of a two-year contract agreement. It is priced at $599.99 (€447) outright.

As for the DROID MAXX, it was listed on this page at the wireless carrier, with a price tag of $299.99 (€223) on contract, or $699.99 (€521) without.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the DROID Ultra arrives on shelves with a 5-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display capable of delivering a 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, as well as with a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor.

Furthermore, the mobile phone sports 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a 10-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and a 2MP front camera for making video calls.

The smartphone is powered by a 2140 mAh battery, and runs under Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system right from the start.

“Introducing Droid Ultra by Motorola, only on Verizon. Now the thinnest 4G LTE smartphone is also one of the strongest,” the mobile phone carrier notes on its website.

“Take on your day with touchless control and an active display. Capture pictures with the simplified camera and share them quickly with the exclusive Droid Zap. Stay current with Droid Command Center.”

The Motorola DROID MAXX was announced with roughly the same hardware specifications list as the DROID Ultra, though with a thicker body, as UnwiredView notes.

The smartphone comes to the market with 32GB of internal memory, and sports a 3500 mAh battery, which should provide its owners with longer usage times.

At the moment, Verizon notes on its website that both of these Android-based mobile phones are set to start shipping to users on August 27.
