Intermedia, the largest Microsoft Exchange hosting provider all around the world, announced today that it made all of its hosted Exchange services (including Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2007) available for the recently launched Motorola DROID. The handset, as many of you might already know, is the second Android device from the handset vendor, and runs under the Android 2.0 flavor of the platform.

According to the company, it managed to configure the new Motorola DROID device, based on the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync solution, so as to offer users the possibility to enjoy Enterprise-grade Exchange services similar to those available in their offices. The company already delivers the same services to users of a Palm Treo, Motorola Q, T-Mobile Dash, Samsung Blackjack and the iPhone, including email, calendars, tasks and instant messaging.

“It is imperative for many knowledge workers and on-the-go employees to be able to work remotely with the same Enterprise-grade Exchange services they have in the office,” Jonathan McCormick, chief operating officer, Intermedia, commented on the new announcement. “With the varying devices on the market, users can have their pick and still have complete support through our hosted Exchange solution.”

At the same time, the company also revealed that it offered full support for "BlackBerry Wireless Solution hosting for hosted Exchange". Intermedia says that it provides mobile users with BlackBerry Enterprise Solutions (BES) connectivity, enabling them to enjoy wireless “push” email features. Moreover, customers benefit from two-way wireless syncing features that cover email, calendar, contacts and tasks.

“Available on the company’s hosted Exchange 2007 and new hosted Exchange 2010 offering, Intermedia’s HostPilot Control Panel enables companies to retain Enterprise-grade security and control over their mobile devices. For instance, in the event a user loses his or her BlackBerry smartphone, a company can remotely erase the device’s data with just a few clicks,” Intermedia also noted.
