Major carrier has just published a new changelog for a minor Gingerbread update. It appears that Motorola DROID PRO is about to get a new maintenance update.

The DROID PRO is one of the older Android-based smartphone released by Verizon Wireless in 2010. Initially launched with Android 2.2 Froyo on board, Motorola DROID PRO got its Gingerbread update a while ago.

Anyway, if nothing wrong happens Verizon will roll out a small software update for the DROID PRO, which is meant to bring several new features and apps.

The new software update software update 4.7.3.XT610.Verizon.en.US has only 20MB in size and adds the following new features:

- Improved security with DigiNotar security patch; - Device is enabled with the Wireless Alerting System; - Device will no longer lockup or reset after an OTA (over the air) update; - Device will no longer automatically power on after it has been powered off; - Pressing the spacebar key will no longer cause the device to lockup; - Improvements to keyboard backlighting.

In addition, the upcoming software update for the DROID PRO will also fix an issue with email and messaging. Smart Forwarding will no longer cause forwarded messages to remain in the Outbox.

Two applications already available on the DROID PRO will be update as well. V CAST Apps will be updated to version 2.00.54, while VZ Navigator will get an update to version 7.2.0.461.

Although Verizon Wireless has yet to start rolling out the update, usually it doesn't take more than several days for these updates go live since their changelogs have been published on the carrier's support site.

Motorola did not confirmed the DROID PRO for an Ice Cream Sandwich and due to its hardware configuration the chances to receive this update are very slim. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
