On Tuesday, mobile phone maker Motorola and wireless carrier Verizon Wireless officially announced the upcoming availability of three new Android-based smartphones in the United States, namely the DROID MINI, DROID ULTRA, and DROID MAXX by Motorola.

The same as other devices in the popular DROID series, the new smartphones are meant to provide users with a great mobile experience, fast performance capabilities, and an appealing outer design.

The DROID MINI is the smallest of the three, packing a 4.3-inch HD display, but capable of wireless charging and featuring a DuPont Kevlar fiber unibody design with water-repellent and nano-coating.

DROID ULTRA and DROID MAXX pack 5-inch HD displays, along with support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network, with the former being only 7.18mm thin, and with the latter capable of delivering up to two days of usage time, courtesy of a 3500mAh battery.

All three smartphones will arrive on shelves with the DROID Command Center, a homescreen widget that can deliver fast access to text messages, missed calls, battery level, and weather.

Furthermore, they will include Active Notifications, as well as an always listening Google Now, to enable fast interaction with it, through simply saying “Ok Google Now.”

“Taking a picture and sharing it is now as easy as shake, tap and swipe. Quick Capture lets users access the 10-megapixel camera by shaking the phone twice, then tapping anywhere on the screen to snap a pic or a selfie,” Verizon notes.

“Sharing with a friend or a group of friends nearby is simple with the DROID Zap feature. Swiping up on a picture instantly shares it with fellow new DROID owners nearby, all they need to do is swipe down on their screen to receive it.”

The three smartphones can be pre-ordered on the carrier’s website, but it will not make them available for purchase until late August.

The new DROID ULTRA and DROID MAXX will arrive on the market on August 20, priced at $199.99 (€151) and $299.99 (€227), respectively, while the DROID MINI is set to hit shelves on August 29, priced at $99.99 (€76). All three will require a two-year contract agreement.
