Motorola Mobility has finally released the Developer Edition versions of DROID MAXX and Moto X smartphones in the United States.

Both can now be purchased for $650 (€480) through Motorola’s official online store. Customers should keep in mind that there are two Moto X models up for sale, one for Verizon that can be obtained beginning today, and the GSM variant that will go on sale tomorrow.

Motorola DROID MAXX and Moto X Developer Edition ship with easy to unlock bootloader. The US-based handset maker also mentioned that Sprint’s Moto X will not receive a Developer Edition given the fact that it already comes with an easy to unlock bootloader.

It is also worth mentioning that both Developer Edition Motorola smartphones pack 32GB of internal memory and will be delivered with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system onboard.

The rest of the specs are pretty much different, so those who are looking for a bigger and sleeker device may want to pick the DROID MAXX, as the smartphone sports a 5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) and Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

The DROID MAXX comes equipped with a 1.7 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4Pro processor, an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM, whereas the Moto X packs a 1.7 GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Pro Snapdragon COU and the same GPU and amount of RAM.

Motorola Moto X is powered by a high-capacity 2200 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 576 hours of standby time or up to 13 hours of talk time.

The DROID MAXX Developer Edition features a 3500 mAh Li-Ion battery that should provide up to 600 hours of standby time or up to 48 hours of talk time. Obviously, mixed usage is a bit lower, but still, the smartphone has a remarkable autonomy thanks to its huge battery.
