Motorola DROID, the second mobile phone Motorola is set to deliver to the market running under Google's Android operating system, is expected to come to Germany as the Motorola Milestone. Moreover, the device is also said to arrive on the airwaves of O2 Germany, as shown in a recently leaked document form the wireless carrier.

We already knew that the Motorola DROID was set to make an appearance on the European market, yet there were no exact details on where and when it would surface. According to the latest news, it might arrive on O2 Germany's airwaves in the week beginning with November 9, only about three days after becoming available for purchase in the United States on Verizon Wireless' network.

For the time being, however, there are no official details on when exactly the device might be launched on O2, and some suggest that it could arrive later on during the fourth quarter, yet before Christmas. Moreover, the phone is reported to come to O2 stores featuring a price tag of around $595 before taxes and subsidies, yet the carrier might offer it for much less on contract. The Motorola Milestone will come to O2 Germany featuring the already known Texas Instruments OMAP 3430 processor (the same as the one sported by Palm's Pre smartphone), a sliding QWERTY keyboard, as well as the large touchscreen display that boasts a 854 x 480 pixel resolution, and the Android 2.0 operating system. Other specifications of the handset seem to lack for the time being.

Other unknown details regarding the Motorola Milestone are whether the device will be distributed exclusively via O2, or whether it will also make an appearance on the offering of other carriers. No information on the handset's availability on other European markets emerged at the moment, yet the necessary details should become available in the near future, so stay tuned to learn the news.
