Soon, the Motorola DROID Bionic will be in users' hands. Most of the latest reports on the matter suggested that it would be released in less than a week, and some of the video ads that Verizon already aired for the handset suggested the same.

On September 8th, the fourth LTE-capable smartphone at Verizon will be available on the carrier's network, bringing along a great design and powerful hardware specifications.

Nothing was officially confirmed on this until now, but it is not unusual for Verizon to take its time before unveiling the availability date of a high-end device to the world.

Moreover, reports on the first DROID Bionic units being already delivered to stores emerged, which clearly shows that the release date should not be too far.

The guys over at Droid-life note that demo units and other promotional materials are already being shipped to stores, and that working units are also arriving at Verizon's locations around the country.

Not to mention that the VZW Equipment Guide pointed at next Thursday as the launch date for the mobile phone too, as can be seen in the second screenshot attached to this article.

For those out of the loop, we should also note that the latest video ad that Verizon aired for the DROID Bionic clearly pointed at September 8th as being the day when DROID Bionic will be put up for sale. You can have a look at the video at the bottom of this article.

While preparing for the release, Verizon also kicked off a scavenger hunt for the LTE smartphone, offering enthusiasts the possibility to win handsets and other devices, such as LED HDTVs, Laptops, Xoom tablets and video-streaming Quadcopters.

The wireless carrier made available for download a free application, the ‘Droid Bionic ARena‘, an augmented reality application that can be downloaded from the Android Market here.

The contest will end on September 7 and, if we were to compare it with other similar competitions that Verizon put in place for its DROID devices, we can safely assume that the phone will hit shelves the very next day.

On the DroidDoes website, the wireless carrier put up a video ad for the scavenger hunt, along with details on the prizes and on what users will need to do to win, so head over there to learn more.

All in all, Verizon might be set to make the official announcement on DROID Bionic in the next few days, but it seems that they are simply waiting a bit longer before making the move, so as to rise the hype around the device.
