Verizon has just added the Motorola DROID Bionic to its offering, after nine months of delays and redesigns, and now the mobile phone is available both through the carrier's website, as well as via retail partners, some of which have it much cheaper than the wireless carrier does.

Amazon, for example, has made the DROID Bionic available for purchase for only $199 with the signing of a two-year contract, down from the $299 that Verizon asks for it.

The new device can be seen on Amazon's website here, with the said price tag attached to it, and with free two-day shipping.

The Motorola DROID Bionic is the first smartphone to arrive on shelves at Verizon with a dual-core application processor while packing support for the carrier's new LTE network.

It was unveiled to the world in January this year, yet Motorola decided a few months later that the device needed a redesign, and pushed its release back for the end of the summer.

Yesterday, the company announced the release of the new mobile phone on Verizon's network, and users can already purchase it online.

The DROID Bionic comes with a fast application processor inside, as well as with a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a qHD resolution.

It also sports an 8MP camera with HD video recording capabilities, 16 GB of internal memory, microSD card slot for adding mode storage into the mix, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, and support for the carrier's LTE and CDMA networks.

“Packing a dual-core processor with each core running at 1 GHz, the sleekly designed Motorola DROID BIONIC smartphone with 4G LTE for Verizon Wireless delivers a mobile Internet experience that's up to 10 times faster than 3G,” the retailer notes.

“And with Motorola's innovative webtop application, you can connect to an external monitor via optional adapters or docks (including a laptop dock) to play music and videos on the big screen as well as enjoy full Firefox multi-tab browsing (learn more below).”

The new mobile phone runs under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and offer support for a wide range of mobile applications and services. Its functionality can be expanded through the addition of specific accessories, including a Lapdock or an HD Station dock.
