Motorola kicked-off the Jelly Bean soak test for DROID Bionic about a week ago and it looks like the update is almost ready to be pushed to general public.

The DROID Bionic is a pretty old smartphone, but that did not stop Motorola from offering this Jelly Bean upgrade.

According to AndroidCentral, Verizon and Motorola should start the rollout of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update to all DROID Bionic devices on Monday, April 15.

The Big Red carrier has already published the official changelog of the update, so it should not take long until it goes live.

Software update 98.72.22.XT875.Verizon.en.US brings lots of new features and improvements, including Voice Search, Notifications, Google Now and Smart Keyboard.

With Voice Search, Android users will be able to search the web using their voice. The new service is powered by the Knowledge Graph, which brings users precise answers and ranking search results.

The update also brings expanded notifications, which allows users to send emails, return calls, share photos and more directly from the notifications panel.

Smart Keyboard is another new feature introduced by this upgrade. Dictionaries have been made more accurate and relevant and the keyboard can now guess the next word before typing it.

DROID Bionic users will also be happy to know that voice typing now works even when they don’t have a data connection.

Users will be able to customize their home screen much easier by putting widgets directly on the screen. Smoother transitions have been added as well, along with more intuitive graphics.

Aside from the usual changes added by Jelly Bean, there are some new features and improvements included by Motorola:

- Improved voice and data connectivity quality; - Calendar settings have been improved; - Improvements to Mobile Hotspot data connectivity have been made; - Improved reliability and connectivity of Back Up Assistant Plus & Visual Voicemail; - Sling and MOG application preloads have been removed.
