The DROID 4 is the next high-end slider smartphone from Motorola. The device surfaced about a month ago with Verizon Wireless’ logo, but no other details regarding its exact launch date.

It appears that the folks over at DroidLife are back with more info on the upcoming release of the Motorola DROID 4.

According to an internal document leaked recently, the DROID 4 is scheduled for a December 8 release, along with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Obviously the release date has yet to be confirmed by the carrier, but even if the DROID 4 won’t be arriving in stores on December 8, it is likely that Verizon will launch it just before Christmas.

Motorola DROID 4 sports a large 4-inch Super AMOLED Advanced capacitive touchscreen display, a full QWERTY keyboard, which is ‘illuminated’, as well as LTE support.

In addition, the smartphone is powered by Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread and packs an 8-megapixel rear camera and a secondary front facing camera.
