Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is reportedly gearing up for the release of a new Android-based handset from Motorola, namely the already rumored DROID 4, and the phone was just spotted on the DroidDoes website.

This is the site where Verizon teases its DROID devices, which means that DROID 4's appearance there comes as confirmation of both existence and a near release announcement.

Nothing has been made official on the matter until now, but rumor has it that the new device could arrive on shelves before the end of this month.

The handset was reportedly spotted on the mobile DroidDoes site, and the screenshots attached to this article come from there, but the content is not yet live for all users to access it.

However, since Verizin has yet to make an official announcement on the smartphone, that does not come too much as a surprise.

One thing that these images confirm would be the list of specifications that DROID 4 would hit the market with.

The handset should prove highly appealing, featuring DROID RAZR's looks, but with a sliding 5-row QWERTY keyboard included into the mix.

The smartphone arrives on shelves with a 4-inch qHD screen, complemented by a 1.2GHz dual-core application processor, and 1GB of RAM.

Moreover, the new mobile phone sports an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for HD video recording capabilities, and a front camera for video calling.

The handset also packs 16GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, and a 1785mAh battery for increased usage time.

It will also include 4G LTE connectivity features when made available, as well as Mobile Hotspot capability, so that users could connect a number of up to 6 WiFi-enabled devices to Verizon's network.

The upcoming Motorola DROID 4 runs under Google's Android 2.3.5 operating system. The phone is rumored to debut at Big Red just before Christmas, on December 22nd.
