The unannounced Motorola DROID 4 has yet to receive a release date and a price tag, but rumors on its specs sheet continue to come and go these days.

Although the smartphone was slated for a December 22 release at Verizon Wireless, it looks like it won't make to shelves until February, 2012.

Until Verizon comes forward with an official announcement we can only hope the device will be launched as early as possible. Anyway, the folks over at Technobuffalo manged to grab a DROID 4 dummy unit and took some pictures that reveal an interesting Android-based slider smartphone.

It looks like the Motorola DROID 4 comes with an slightly redesigned QWERTY keyboard, which is touted “the best one yet on a DROID handset.”

Even though Technobuffalo's DROID 4 is just a dummy unit and not a real working handset, we can make a pretty good idea of what's to come. The phone's chassis reveals a pretty thin device, even though we're talking about a slider device.

As for the smartphone's specs sheet, it looks like it will be close to Motorola DROID RAZR's hardware configuration, but with a slightly smaller display.

Apart from the interesting slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the DROID 4 should be equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

As we already mentioned, the DROID 4 sports a 4-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen that is probably based on the same Advanced display technology. No word on whether or not this will be of Super AMOLED quality.

Just like the Motorola RAZR, the DROID 4 packs an enhanced 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording capabilities, as well as an HD front-facing camera for video calls and chats.

There's also an HDMI port, an 1785 mAh battery, GPS with A-GPS support, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support. Motorola DROID 4 will be announced next month during CES 2012 trade fair, rumors claim.
