Rumors on Motorola DROID 4’s launch at Verizon have come and gone, but the carrier has yet to confirm the exact availability of the smartphone.

The most recent info leaked online concerns the DROID 4’s price tag. Apparently, Verizon Wireless decided to drop the phone’s price ahead of official launch.

Instead of paying $249.99 (190 EUR), Verizon customers will be able to purchase the phone for only $199.99 (150 EUR) with a new two-year agreement.

Although we still don’t have any information regarding the phone’s exact release date, Motorola DROID 4 has just appeared on Verizon's “Droid Does” site, alongside other DROID devices, which are already available on the market.

Furthermore, the folks over at Droid-Life claim that the DROID 4 is currently slated for a February 9 release, though nothing is sure when it comes to Verizon and this particular Motorola smartphone.

Hopefully, the DROID 4 will be among the latest Motorola high-end smartphones to be released with Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board. With Ice Cream Sandwich released more handset makers will surely try to attract customers with Android 4.0 devices.

Motorola already confirmed plans to upgrade most of its high-end devices to Ice Cream Sandwich in early 2012, including the DROID 4. The smartphone is equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and packs 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

However, the phone’s selling points are the full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and LTE support. Other than that, the DROID 4 offers similar features as the DROID RAZR, including the 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.

Motorola DROID 4 comes with a slightly smaller 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

Droid 4 is vaporware... I am just about fed up with Verison customer service. Nobody knows anything. How can the employees be so left in the dark?
