Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is expected to bring to the market in the near future a new Motorola device running under Google's Android operating system, the long rumored DROID 3, and some new info on the matter emerged.

Apparently, the new device would be set to arrive on shelves at the wireless carrier in the following few weeks, and it already made an appearance in the company's internal systems.

The mobile phone might be hitting the shelves as soon as this month, though no official confirmation on the matter emerged for the time being.

The leaked screenshot of Verizon's internal systems that shows the DROID 3 would be a clear indicator of the upcoming availability of this device, the guys over at Android Central note.

The bad news would be that DROID 3 is expected to run under Google's Android 2.2 Froyo OS when available, and not under the newer Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform.

The DROID X2 was launched with Froyo on board as well, and it should not come too much as a surprise if DROID 3 runs under the same OS flavor.

While waiting for an official announcement on the availability of DROID 3, we should have a look at some of the rumored specs of this device.

It is expected to land on the market with a dual-core application processor inside, and with a large 4-inch touchscreen display that would boast a qHD resolution, in addition to a sliding QWERTY keyboard.

At the same time, the new mobile phone would include a PowerVR SGX540 GPU, as well as HDMI-out port, support for Verizon's CDMA network, and WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

On the back, the Android device would include an 8-megapixel photo snapper, with HD video recording capabilities, complemented by a font-facing camera for video calling.

Hopefully, rumors on the availability of this device would pan out, and Verizon and Motorola would announce more on it in the near future.
