Mobile phone maker Motorola Mobility and wireless carrier Verizon are reportedly gearing up for the launch of a new handset powered by Google's Android operating system, the long-rumored Motorola DROID 3, and some new photos with the handset have just made an appearance into the wild.

Courtesy of Chinese website xda.cn (via Engadget), we can have a better look at the mobile phone, and can also learn a few more info on its specifications list.

Apparently, the large 4-inch touchscreen display is a go, with its qHD (960 x 540 pixels) resolution, just as previously rumored.

Moreover, the handset is said to come with a dual-core OMAP 4430 application processor inside, of unknown speed at the moment, though it might be 1GHz, complemented by only 512MB of RAM.

The specifications list of the new mobile phone also includes an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which might offer HD video recording capabilities, just as any the latest handsets running under Android and sporting high-quality cameras offer.

The Motorola DROID 3 should also include HDMI-out port, along with a 1500 mAh battery inside.

Although not mentioned, all the usual set of features packed with Motorola's latest Android devices should be included with DROID 3, such as WiFi and Bluetooth, GPS receiver, 3G, microSD card slot, and the like.

No specific info on the platform version the new mobile phone runs under emerged either, though some of the previous rumors suggested Android 2.2 Froyo, with Android 2.3 Gingerbread arriving at a later date as a software update.

However, one thing that seems to be certain is the fact that DROID 3 is set to arrive on shelves in Europe as well, under the name of Milestone 3.

The Motorola DROID 3 was rumored not too long ago to be set to land on shelves at Verizon on July 7th, but no confirmation on this has emerged so far. Stay tuned for additional details on this.
