Unveiled three months ago, Motorola DEFY+ rugged smartphone has just gone live in India for all Android enthusiasts who are looking for a durable device.

Flipkart is offering the Motorola DEFY+ for Rs 17,990 ($365 or 265 EUR) starting today. The retailer promises that customers will receive their ordered DEFY+ smartphone in about 5 business days.

Built on the success of the popular DEFY smartphone, the DEFY+ comes with several noteworthy improvements, including a newer operating system and a better processor.

We're not sure if this is a marketing move or not, but it appears that Motorola preferred to bring a new model in the market instead of pushing the Gingerbread update to the original DEFY smartphone.

Aside Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the Motorola DEFY+ features the company's (in)famous MOTOBLUR user interface with Live Widgets, as well as IP67 certification, which makes it dust and water proof (up to 1m for 30 mins).

Unlike the original model, which is equipped with an 800 MHz processor, the DEFY+ comes with a slightly better 1 GHz single core TI OMAP 3620 CPU.

In addition, it offers a much better battery life thanks to the superior 1700 mAh Li-Polymer battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 384 hours of standby time or up to 7 hours of talk time.

The rugged smartphone is delivered with HSDPA (7.2 Mbps) and HSUPA (2 Mbps) support, as well as Wi-Fi, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity options.

On the inside, both models comes with the same amount of memory: 2 GB storage, 512 MB of RAM, and 1 GB of ROM.

The amount of storage can be expanded via the microSD card slot up to 32GB. Motorola stated that the DEFY+ will be packed with a free 2GB memory card, but Flipkart does not mention it.
