Motorola promised earlier this year that it will push the Froyo update to its DEFY model by the end of 2011

The company has recently announced that the Android 2.2 software upgrade for Motorola DEFY is now available in South East Asia and France.

According to Motorola, the following Asian countries are getting the update starting today: Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore.

Starhub and retail versions of the Motorola DEFY will receive the update in Singapore, while in France, Orange, SFR and retail models of the DEFY are getting the Froyo.

The software update is now available as direct download from Motorola Update website, but requires users to install Motorola's update tools and have the battery of the device at least 50% charged.

The JEM_3.4.3 upgrade for Motorola DEFY provides users new features from Android 2.2 Froyo and additional improvements.

Once the upgrade is installed, Motorola DEFY users will notice that the performance of the phone has been improved, resulting in faster interface, application operation and Internet browsing.

The DEFY will now support Adobe Flash Player 10.1 and applications can be stored on the device's microSD card.

In addition, applications can be set to automatically update by checking “allow automatic updating” under each application's page in Android Market.

The update also adds punctuation to the suggestion ribbon and the profiles feature, which provides users with three sets of home screens, fully customizable, that gives them access to apps, shortcuts, and widgets.

The design of the user interface has also been updated, while the LinkedIn social network accounts can now be added to integrate with contacts, updates and messaging.

Other interesting changes include: Dialer search, which allows users to search from the dialer screen by entering the first letters of the contact's name, Task Manager and new Exchange-based encryption and password security feature.
