A weird but most certainly interesting contraption

Motorola seems to be pushing Android to an impressive number of devices, and one of the most interesting Google OS-powered contraptions to arrive was the recently pictured Motorola Corvair remote.

The device is running the 2.3 version of Android, aka Gingerbread, and according to The Verge is already in testing with cable companies.

Sadly, the capabilities of the Corvair remain somewhat of a mystery, but it seems like that apart from controlling your devices it can also mirror its display’s contents to a larger display when the 6-inch capacitive screen isn't enough for you.

Hardware wise, the box in which the Corvair comes shipped reveals that it features not only Wi-Fi connectivity, but also support for the ZigBee-based RF control protocol RF4CE as well as IR control.

There's also a 4,000mAh battery in there, so this thing should keep operating for quite a few days without requiring a recharge.

As far as the release date of the Motorola Corvair is concerned this is anybody's guess right now, but I would say that the Christmas holiday season and CES 2012 are the most likely candidates.
