One of the first handset makers to confirm their willingness to deliver Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for some of their most important products was HTC.

The Taiwanese company announced a few months ago that it would offer said upgrade for most of its high-end smartphones in maximum 90 days from the moment the new version of Android gets released.

Even though Android 5.0 Lollipop has already been officially introduced by Google, the new version is not yet available for download to Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 owners, though the search giant has confirmed that preview images will be released on October 17.

Until then though, another handset maker recently came forward with an official statement in which it revealed the upcoming availability of Android 5.0 Lollipop for no less than 9 of its smartphones.

Motorola has just confirmed plans to bring the latest Android upgrade to many of its smartphones, other than the Nexus 6, which already comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop onboard.

According to the US-based handset maker, the following devices should receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update: Motorola Moto X (1st and 2nd Gen), Motorola Moto G (1st and 2nd Gen), Motorola Moto G with 4G LTE, Motorola Moto E, Motorola DROID Ultra, Motorola DROID Maxx, and Motorola DROID Mini.

The last three devices mentioned by Motorola are part of Verizon’s portfolio, so it’s likely that they will be among the last to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade.

Even though Motorola hasn’t shared any details on when exactly the update will be released for these 9 smartphones, the company mentions that it’s still working out the details on timing.

Motorola also hopes that its partners will be supporting the rollout of the update and help the company bring it to all listed smartphones as fast as possible.

More details on timings will be available soon after Lollipop is officially released

We expect Motorola to offer more details on Android 5.0 Lollipop updates after the new OS is officially released, possibly later this month.

Until then, here is some of the new stuff you will get along with Android 5.0 Lollipop. First of all, Material Design is the first thing you will notice after upgrading to the latest version of Android.

Then there are some new security features, including a “kill switch” that allows users to prevent others from accessing their smartphone/tablet in case of theft. There’s also a new Guest mode and multiple accounts option.
