T-Mobile USA, Inc. announced today the purchase availability of Motorola CLIQ, the first mobile phone from the company equipped with Google's Android operating system. The new handset comes to the market with its maker’s MOTOBLUR user experience, and can be acquired from T-Mobile retail stores and partner locations, as well as online from the carrier's website.

The handheld is available exclusively from T-Mobile, and the wireless carrier also announced the launch of T-Mobile Motorola CLIQ Challenge, a contest aimed at building the largest college fan club on Facebook (more details are available here). According to the operator, the new MOTOBLUR solution from Motorola is aimed at integrating different means of communications, including work e-mail and social networking activity.

MOTOBLUR is aimed at bringing together contacts, posts, messages, photos and more from different sources, including Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Gmail, work or personal e-mail. Moreover, the solution delivers all these directly to the phone's homescreen, so that users can have fast access to them. All of these can be enjoyed in a mobile phone priced at $199.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the carrier.

“Smartphones are fast becoming the primary way many consumers engage with social networking services, e-mail and the Web, which makes the Motorola CLIQ with MOTOBLUR the right phone at the right time,” said Travis Warren, director, product marketing, T-Mobile USA. “T-Mobile continues to expand upon its industry-leading lineup of Android smartphones for the holiday season with the launch of the CLIQ, and we expect it to be very popular among our highly connected customers.”

The specifications of CLIQ include a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 3.1-inch touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and video recording, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, a 3.5mm headset jack, microSD memory card slot for additional storage space, pre-loaded Amazon MP3 store application, Shazam, iMeem Mobile, AccuWeather, MySpace Mobile and Quickoffice, and access to services like Google Search by voice, Google Maps with Street View, YouTube and Picasa. At the same time, the handset also comes with great messaging, email and instant messaging capabilities.
