Android fans who decided to go for Motorola's CLIQ 2 slider smartphone will be happy to find that the U.S.-based manufacturer has just released a major maintenance software update that will fix some of the phone's bugs and bring several new features.

In addition, software update 1.1.30 for the Motorola CLIQ 2 includes several improvements to device performance and the new security features.

The update is being pushed automatically, so owners of the CLIQ 2 will have to wait until they receive a notification message for this update directly on their phones.

Before downloading and installing the update, users should make sure the phone's battery is at least 50% charged and that an active SIM card is inserted. It is also recommended to use a Wi-Fi connection to avoid data overage charges.

Software update 1.1.30 change log is detailed below:

New Exchange security features: - Added Device and SD Card Encryption capabilities; - Added proxy and VPN Support to allow Wi-Fi users to access external corporate networks; - Included new password management functionality.

User interface speed: - Improved loading speed of widgets and wallpapers.

Battery: - Improved battery performance, particularly when Wi-Fi is enabled and when using Google Maps.

New applications: - Added Lookout, Mobi TV, Family Room, and UNO apps.

Updated applications: - Updated Audio Postcard, AppPack, Wi-Fi Calling applications.

Phone stability: - Numerous fixes have been implemented, resulting in fewer occurrences of unresponsiveness and/or programs quitting unexpectedly.

Network location accuracy: - Improved network location accuracy for Wi-Fi calling.

Virtual Keyboard haptic feedback: - Improved accuracy of haptic feedback when typing.

Those who do not receive the notification message for the software update should try searching for it manually by accessing the Settings Menu / About Phone / System Updates.

As soon as the 1.1.30 update is found users should select Download, and then Install. The phone will reboot automatically as soon as the installation process is complete.
