Motorola has plans to introduce in US a phone service that will allow payments to be made directly from the mobile. The service, known as M-Wallet, was first announced in 2004 and now it seems it won't be the only
one in the US, as Cingular is already testing with Nokia a similar technology near Atlanta.

M-Wallet features a friendly interface that gives users access to their finances and allows them to pay bills and transfer money easily using the phone. The application consists of two components: the M-Wallet application that is downloaded by consumers from the Internet, and the Wallet Service Center for administration and management of issuing credit/debit cards, coupons, archiving. The technology works with GSM/CDMA/iDEN and is compatible with Symbian, Pocket PC, Palm, J2ME, BREW and SimTk phones.

Motorola will make a demonstration of the service at 3GSM Congress in Barcelona.
