14 DAY TRIAL // Mobile phone maker Motorola has begun the delivery of a new software update for its DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX devices.
Only the members of its Feedback Network are receiving the new software at the moment, yet other users should also get a taste of it in the near future.
Unfortunately, although this was expected to be the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform for these two devices, users will have to wait a bit longer before that platform version is released to them.
Featuring build Version.6.12.181.XT912.Verizon.en.US, the new update was packed with a series of enhancements for these mobile phones, as well as with some bug fixes, Droid-life notes.
Following the installation of this firmware, owners of DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX by MOTOROLA devices should see improvements in the battery life, along with better performance.
Moreover, the update changes the phone’s storage settings screen, and delivers better visual voicemail performance with data disabled and visual voicemail notification delivery.
Among the fixes that this software is meant to provide, we can count one related to Share app functionality, and another to correct loud call end and connect tones over Bluetooth
Other improvements packed inside the new firmware include:
- Added new MotoCast widget to enable easier access to MotoCast files - Implemented several fixes to improve MotoCast performance - Implemented IPV6 support over cellular connection and WiFi to facilitate updated interaction with the network - Corrected 4G coverage indicator to accurately display data connectivity - Improved Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity when utilizing WPS security - Improved text messaging to ensure timely receiving of texts - Added easy access to bookmarks through a press and hold on the back key.
Additionally, the new software was meant to provide users of DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX by MOTOROLA with better security on their devices. The new firmware prevents unauthorized access of telephony database by third parties.
As stated above, Motorola is pushing the new update only to a select group of users, but it might not be too long before it makes it available for the rest of them as well.
As for the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for these devices, the company has already confirmed that it will deliver it, but did not offer a specific release date. Hopefully, it won’t be long before a formal announcement on this is made, so stay tuned.
