Mobile phone maker Motorola Mobility is reportedly gearing up for the release of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for its WiFi XOOM tablet PCs.

Apparently, the company has already informed some of its users that it is about to begin the testing period for the update.

Unfortunately, the message was aimed only at the owners of a WiFi XOOM model in the United States, as the update appears to be targeted exclusively at this model.

“Hi. Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We would like to invite to you take part in a software test for owners of the U.S. Wi-Fi Xoom. If you are not using a U.S. Wi-Fi Xoom, please excuse and ignore this message,” an email from Motorola reportedly stated.

The message was sent to those Wi-Fi XOOM owners who are part of the Motorola Feedback Network, and was nothing more than an invitation to participate in the aforementioned soak test.

“If you're interested in testing new software and providing feedback about your experience, please fill out this short registration form: We recommend you respond as quickly as possible as start times are generally fluid,” Motorola’s email continued.

“Please be patient if we don't contact you right away -- and be prepared for a launch at any time. When we're ready to begin we will send an email with more information, if you register successfully.”

Motorola has yet to provide a specific date on the availability of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system for the XOOM model. However, based on this email, we can assume that the update will arrive soon.

When unveiling the new platform release, Google announced that it would be delivered to the owners of Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S and XOOM models in a matter of weeks, and it has already started to push it to the latest Google phone out there, the Galaxy Nexus.
