Mobile phone maker Motorola has just announced that it will push its Motorola Backflip handset to the market in Germany, delivering its MotoBlur solution to more users around the world. The Motorola Backflip, as most of you might already know, comes with Google's Android operating system on board, while also featuring a unique form factor, due to its QWERTY keyboard that flips backwards.

The Motorola Backflip with MotoBlur will arrive on the German market powered by Google's Android 1.5 operating system, but its maker says that the platform is upgradeable to a newer version, namely Android 2.1, which should make the device pretty appealing to users. At the same time, the handset sports a 3.1-inch touchscreen display that boasts an HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) resolution, as well as a 5-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash, auto focus and 4x digital zoom.

The specifications list of Motorola Backflip also shows Wi-Fi (802.11 b,g) connectivity options, coupled with Micro USB (USB 2.0 High Speed), Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR, aGPS with Google Maps, Google Latitude, Google Maps Street View, 3.5 mm headphone jack, microSD memory card slot for up to 32 GB of additional storage space, and a 1400 mAh Li Ion battery inside, which can deliver up to 6 hours of usage time, or up to 315 hours of standby time. Beside the touchscreen display and the backflipping QWERTY keyboard, the handset also sports a BACKTRACK navigation pad behind screen.

The handset also features Instant Messaging capabilities (AOL Instant Messenger, Windows Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk), support for email (Gmail, IMAP, POP3), SMS and MMS, full HTML browser, photo sharing functionality with support for MySpace, Photobucket, Picasa, Facebook, and with the possibility to personalize the homescreen through widgets supported by the MotoBlur solution. For the time being, no exact details on when the Backflip will land in Germany have emerged, nor on the price tag it might feature when available for purchase.
