14 DAY TRIAL // Although Motorola announced earlier this year that the XOOM would receive an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich sometime this year, the Australian branch felt the need to reaffirm the upcoming status of the update.
In this regard, Motorola Australia stated on its official Facebook page that, while the said update was already deployed in some markets, there were a number of technical reasons why it needed to push the update to all XOOM (3G and Wi-Fi only) users in Australia at the same time.
The company also confirmed that Motorola XOOM owners living in Australia would receive the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich update in Q2, though no specific date has been provided yet.
“We understand that the update has been pushed out in other markets - but unfortunately hardware, software and testing is not uniform across the world and we must adhere to the unique testing protocols here in Australia before we deploy the software,” – Motorola Australia.
