Recently, mobile phone maker Motorola announced that a new software update is being pushed out to the users of a Motorola Milestone device in Europe. Released only as a maintenance update for the high-end device, the new software solution (MR2.5) should provide a nice range of fixes, enhancements and improvements, the company stated. Interestingly enough, it seems that the handset vendor pulled the update shortly after making the official announcement, and that only users living in Greece can download and install it.

Among the improvements the new software update is expected to offer to Milestone users, we can count: - Improved Stability Prevents the phone from random power cycling (turning off and on), and minimizes force closes in certain applications. - Alarm Improvements Resolves issues with alarm functionality. - Music Player Functionality - Eliminates accidental starting of music. - Proximity Sensor Enhancement - Provides more accurate proximity sensing during phone calls. - Flight Mode Enhancement - Ensures phone service is restored after leaving airplane mode. - “My Location” Improvements - Audio Quality Enhancements Eliminates instances of choppy audio experienced by some users.

Other enhancements are also included in the new software solution, such as PIN Lock Improvements, which should provide additional flexibility when it comes to setting the PIN Lock timer when using Exchange email. At the same time, the solution is also expected to resolve an issue with Google Maps when the app was not able to find 'My Location' when 'Use Wireless Network' was enabled without using GPS.

The solution is being rolled-out over the air, Motorola Europe announced via its Facebook page. It seems that, even if the company said that it is being pushed to all Milestone users out there, the update would actually be deployed on a market-by-market basis, and that only users in Greece are able to enjoy it at the moment. Other countries should receive it pretty soon. Even if it is not the Android 2.2 update some might have been expecting already, the solution does sport a nice range of improvements, that's for sure.
