Motorola announced a new mobile application called MOTOCAST, that will give users easy access to information, content and services directly from the home screen of Motorola mobile devices. MOTOCAST will be shipped with new Motorola phones, providing customers with high quality and continuously updated content. The content will be delivered automatically to the mobile so that users can enjoy it right away, without the hassle of having to search for it manually.

"MOTOCAST is a great example of how we at Motorola look to combine cutting edge styling and product design with unrivalled experience," said Stephen Nolan, regional lead for Northern Europe, Motorola. "With MOTOCAST, customers will be able to realize the full potential of their devices with no complexity; there is nothing to install, no feature hidden away, no WAP browser to find or numerous pages to click through - the service operates out of the box. With the great content provided by Reuters, MOTOCAST gives every Motorola customer a constantly updating news source in their pocket."

At launch, MOTOCAST will include two channels: a Reuters news service and Motorola's own channel. The Reuters channel will offer users access to general-interest, entertainment, fashion and sports news, while the Motorola channel will allow users to stay up to date with the latest Motorola news and promotions, receive tips on using the device, as well as gain one-click access to downloadable wallpapers, ringtones, applications and games. Motorola is going to add new channels to the service throughout the year.

"We are delighted to be a key launch partner for Motorola's MOTOCAST service", said Tim Faircliff, Reuters General Manager for consumer media, EMEA. "MOTOCAST opens up another opportunity for Reuters to deliver engaging quality content directly to mobile users, and extends Reuters reach across platform and device by driving audiences to Reuters mobile properties. Motorola have clearly continued to innovate, allowing content owners alternative and exciting means of delivering valuable content."
