Today, Canadian wireless carrier Bell Mobility and Motorola went official with plans to have the new Motorola ATRIX smartphone available in the local market starting with March 17th.

The new device would hit shelves in Canada exclusively on Bell's network, offering the carrier's customers the possibility to enjoy a high-end, powerful device that features performance levels similar to those of mobile computers.

Motorola ATRIX was launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in early January as the most powerful smartphone in the world, courtesy of its Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, which is complemented by 1GB of RAM.

The handset comes with a high-resolution qHD display, so that it can offer great multimedia capabilities, along with support for Adobe Flash Player (included with the Android 2.2 Froyo platform it runs under), for an enhanced Internet browsing experience.

“Canadians will have access to the all-powerful superphone and innovative accessories with the Motorola ATRIX,” said Jeff Miller, corporate vice president, Motorola Mobility.

“Through our partnership with Bell, Canadians will get top-of-the-line mobile services and content on the Motorola ATRIX.”

The mobile phone sports 16GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, front- and rear-facing cameras, a 1930 mAh battery for increased usage time, and support for download speeds of up to 14.4Mbps.

Motorola also included with this device its own webtop application, which is meant to offer a PC-like experience from any screen, and also packed Mobile Hotspot capability with the device.

Further more, it offers a series of accessories that can expand the capabilities of this handsets, such as the MOTOROLA Lapdock, or the Motorola HD Multimedia Dock.

“The Motorola ATRIX is a high-performance super-smartphone that takes full advantage of Bell's world-leading 4G broadband mobile network,” said Adel Bazerghi, senior vice president of products at Bell Mobility.

“Operating exclusively on Canada's Best Network, the Motorola Atrix is powerful enough to meet the mobile computing and multimedia demands of both Bell business and consumer clients.”

Motorola ATRIX will hit the shelves at Bell on March 17th with a price tag of $169.95 attached to it upon the signing of a three-year contract agreement on a minimum $50 voice/data plan. If purchase contract free, the smartphone would cost $599.95.
