Motorola had quite a busy day today, as the US-based handset maker launched the first Android 4.4 KitKat update for one of its products, the Moto X.

Google aside, Motorola is the first company that provides its customers with an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade for Moto X. HTC is about to offer the same update for the One Google Play Edition devices, but it will only be the second company providing the update.

All in all, in a surprising move, Motorola quietly confirmed the ATRIX HD smartphone from AT&T would eventually receive the highly anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade.

Details on the release of the update have yet to be unveiled, but Motorola's support site is pretty clear and mentions “ATRIX HD will be upgraded to KitKat (Android 4.4).” Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
