Motorola ATRIX 4G, the powerful Android-based mobile phone available in the United States on the airwaves of wireless carrier AT&T, is now available for purchase via Amazon Wireless for only $ 0.01 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement. Free of contract, the handset would cost $699.99, the leading retailer notes, but users can now purchase it with almost no upfront cost if they commit to a new agreement with the wireless carrier.

The handset, unveiled to the world in January this year with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo OS, sports a dual-core application processor inside, and can be coupled with a series of special docks meant to expand its functionality.

At Amazon, not only would users be able to purchase the ATRIX almost for free, but they will also get $100 off the Laptop Dock.

“Buy a Motorola ATRIX 4G with service and get a promotional code for $100 off the AT&T laptop dock. Your code will be sent via e-mail within 10 business days of purchase and must be used within 60 days of receipt. One code allowed per customer,” Amazon explains.

The ATRIX comes with a large 4-inch qHD touchscreen display, as well as with a powerful application processor packed inside, and also offers connectivity on AT&T's 4G network.

Moreover, it is expected to taste the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform in the near future, which might bring forth an unlocked bootloader for it users.

“Enjoy the power of mobile computing in the palm of your hand with the Motorola ATRIX 4G for AT&T, which offers a 1 GHz dual-core processor and the ability to connect to AT&T's ultra-fast 4G mobile broadband network,” Amazon notes.

“Powered by the Android 2.2 platform (learn more below), it also features Motorola's webtop application, which offers a PC-like experience and runs a full Mozilla Firefox 3.6 browser with support for Adobe Flash Player (requires optional dock).”

The Motorola ATRIX 4G sport a 5MP camera on the back, with HD video recording capabilities, as well as 16 GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32 GB of additional storage.
