A new smartphone is now available for purchase in the United States, the Motorola ATRIX 4G, the most powerful Android handset on shelves today.

The new device went on sale in the country with support for AT&T's HSPA+ network, and is available on the wireless carrier's website with a price tag of $199.99 attached to it upon the signing of a new contract agreement. The off-contract price tag of this device was set at $499.99.

Users interested in the acquisition of a Motorola ATRIX 4G would be able to do so while paying for the device less than what AT&T is asking for it.

For example, Amazon and RadioShack reportedly have it available for only $149.99 on contract, while Walmart offers it for only $129.99.

As stated above, the price includes the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier, on a qualifying monthly plan.

Available monthly options include the Nation 450 plan, which costs $39.99 per month, and go all the way up to $69.99 per month for the Nation Unlimited plan.

Users should also add into the mix $15 per month for a 200MB DataPlus plan, or $45 per month for a Data Pro 4GB + tethering plan, as Engadget notes in a recent article.

Those acquiring a new ATRIX 4G smartphone might also consider trying out one of the special accessories that Motorola released for it, such as the laptop dock, or the multimedia dock, which are sold separately.

AT&T has the laptop dock available for $299.99 when purchased along with the ATRIX, and asks $129.99 for the HD MM Dock.

In case you might have not encountered the Motorola ATRIX 4G before, you might want to know that the device sports a dual-core processor, complemented by 1GB of RAM, microSD memory card slot for expanded storage space, HD video recording capabilities, and more.

The Motorola ATRIX 4G is listed at AT&T here, on Amazon here, on this page at RadioShack, and here at Walmart.
