Unveiled two months ago, Motorola ATRIX 2 has just been introduced in Hong Kong. The smartphone is available beginning this week for a suggested retail price of HK$3,998 (515 USD or 395 EUR).

Also known as Motorola MB865 or ME865, the ATRIX 2 is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system with MOTOBLUR users interface with Live Widgets on top.

Although the handset maker confirmed plans to upgrade some of its devices to Ice Cream Sandwich in early 2012 the ATRIX 2 is not among the first wave of smartphones to get the update next year.

The smartphone comes with a stunning 4.3-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display that boasts 540 x 960 pixels resolution and support for 16 million colors. The phone’s screen is protected against scratches and scrapes by Corning Gorilla Glass.

Motorola ATRIX 2 ME865 is the smartphone that doubles as an entertainment center. You can have a blast doing multiple things at once: watching movies, web surfing, sharing pictures, you name it,” said Ritchie Ma, general manager of Motorola Mobility Hong Kong Limited, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a dual core TI OMAP 4430 processor clocked at 1 GHz and a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing unit. There’s also 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included).

The Motorola ATRIX 2 boasts an enhanced 8-megapixel rear photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary front facing camera for video calls.

Design-wise, the ATRIX 2 ME865 is a “good-looking, high performer that gives you access to the best entertainment anywhere. Built for a fast-paced world, it's a smartphone that takes entertainment to the next level, with a price within reach.”
