Should arrive at AT&T around Thanksgiving with no LTE on board

Mobile phone maker Motorola Mobility unveiled in early 2011 its first handset that packs a dual-core application processor, the Motorola ATRIX 4G, and it seems that the company is currently gearing up for the release of a successor for that device.

Supposedly dubbed ATRIX 2, the new mobile phone has emerged into the wild in a series of leaked photos courtesy of BGR, after being spotted recently at the FCC, it seems.

The mobile phone is said to sport the internal mane of Motorola Edison, this being the handset that made an appearance on the FCC hallways only a few days ago.

The same as the device that received the necessary approvals from the feds, the Motorola ATRIX 2 won't pack LTE connectivity capabilities when released on shelves, though it does seem to offer support for AT&T's network.

Edison was already rumored to be nothing more than an ATRIX refresh, yet specific info on what it would bring new into the mix has not been unveiled until now.

Along with the aforementioned leaked photos with the new mobile phone, BGR also published some leaked specs with it, so that we could make an idea on what Motorola has in store for us with the refresh.

Apparently, the same as the original device, the new handset should land on shelves with a dual-core application processor inside, clocked in at either 1.2GHz or at 1.5GHz, most probably a TI OMAP.

It should also include an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for 1080p HD video recording capabilities.

The mobile phone is also expected to arrive on shelves sometime around Thanksgiving with the Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread operating system on board.

The new mobile phone looks pretty appealing, and might impress users a little more than its predecessor managed to, provided that Motorola indeed manages to make it available in due time.
