Something like webOS, reports say

Mobile phone maker Motorola has big plans when it comes to Android, something that most people already know. The company already announced that it intended to come to the market with two smartphones powered by Google's operating system before the end of the year, and it already launched a few programs aimed at helping developers build applications for the platform, yet its plans seem to go even further.

To be more precise, some details on the user interface Motorola's Android handsets are expected to include have reached the Internet lately, and it seems that users have reasons to rejoice. According to BGR, the custom user interface Motorola plans for its Android phones should be called Blur and should sport a lot of features similar to those present with the webOS platform Palm has recently launched with its high-end Pre smartphone.

This is not the first time we hear about custom UIs for the Android platform, and HTC's move in the area with Sense is the most widely known in this regard. The great part about the Motorola UI, however, is that it should be heavily web-connected and that different areas of the OS and the interface will get updated over the air. Other connectivity options are also expected to be present there, though it seems that full details are missing at the moment.

For what it's worth, Motorola indeed seems to prepare something nice for its users. While the Android-powered handsets it should launch are expected to be rather mid-to-low-end, the features they will pack inside might deliver about the same experience as high-end phones. Among them we should mention the fact that the UI will bring together all personal contacts and social networking sites into a single view, making them easily accessible. It shouldn't be long before the first Motorola Android phone comes to the market, and more details will be released then.
