New computer will be officially launched in March, 2012

If anyone thought it would still take a while before electronic devices stopped wasting power while turned off, MotomoTechWon disagrees.

MotomoTechWon has officially announced the supposedly first personal computer with null standby power consumption.

Contrary to what people may think, every device that is plugged into a power outlet continuously consumes power, even when turned off.

The amount of energy wasted during 'off' times is called standby power.

MotomoTechWon's computer has a standby power of zero watts, in other words none at all.

The secret to the breakthrough is the “Standby Power Cutoff Apparatus for Computer” chip, or SPCAC chip for short.

Thanks to it, leakage of standby power is 100% blocked, leading to lower CO2 emissions and power charges.

“The amount of money wasted by leaking power through plugs of standby electronic appliances is enormous,” says President Jeon Yeong-suk of MotomoTechWon.

“Our innovative technology that incurs no standby power charge satisfies rigorous carbon reduction standards of the climate change convention and is expected to attract attention from fastidious customers in the United States and EU as it cuts consumption of energy.”

The SPCAC chip can block power by turning off its power switch, essentially playing the same role as totally plugging the PC out of the power outlet on the wall.

It should not take too long for other consumer electronics devices to start using this same solution.

TVs, gas stoves, electric cookers, kitchen robots, washing machines and refrigerators all could benefit greatly from it.

Unfortunately, the jump will not be made fast either and, indeed, even this SAVE PC will only be sent to stores at some point in March 2012.

“Existing standby power-related products in Korea and other countries pretended to be green products. But our core chip technology that makes zero of standby power is a unique invention in the world that cannot be imitated by others,” President Jeon states.
